46. The challenge and opportunity for aggregators post-COVID

In the current energy crisis, balancing the electricity system has become more challenging. In some cases, we have seen high levels of renewable generation together with lower demand than normal, impacting both the local and national grids. Some markets have seen more frequent negative electricity prices or responded by procuring more ancillary services to support system balancing. Other markets, with less variable generation, have seen different challenges.
 
In this episode, Jon Slowe is joined by two aggregators (Simon Bushell, CEO of Sympower, and Emeka Chukwureh, Director of International Strategy at Electricity Exchange) whose core business is about using demand side flexibility to help balance the electricity system.
