In this episode, Jon Slowe is joined by Lynne Kiesling, economist and Visiting Professor at Carnegie Mellon University; Sid Sachdeva, Founder and CEO of Innowatts, a SaaS platform using insights from over 40 million meters; and our own expert Jon Ferris, who specialises in demand-side participation in electricity markets, to explore lessons from the February 2021 power crisis in Texas. The event left over 4.5 million homes and businesses without power, with estimated economic damage of $195 billion. While much attention has focused on supply-side issues, this discussion looks at what happened on the demand-side and considers how such crises could inform future market reforms.
